Improved relationships between staff, parents and others associated with the school. The benefit which flows from this purpose includes funding for additional resources for Bunscoil Bheanna Boirche and links established with the local community. This is demonstrated through having an active Cairde Group that works in partnership with the Bunscoil

Cairde Bhunscoil Bheanna Boirche aims to include all parents/carers/staff/friends in our operation. We do this by inviting parents/carers/staff/friends to share their skills and help at events, for example serving refreshments at the Bunscoil’s open morning/evening, selling admission tickets for the Christmas dráma and face painting at the Bunscoil’s June fun day. Cairde Bhunscoil Bheanna Boirche establishes links with the community by encouraging parents/carers/friends and outside groups to use the Bunscoil bialann for regular coffee mornings and evening yoga classes. Good communication is key to a successful Cairde group. The group provides regular updates to parents/carers via the Bunscoil nuachtlitir. The group welcomes feedback and this is done through correspondence and through the group’s social media site. Cairde Bhunscoil Bheanna Boirche organises regular fundraising social events throughout the year which are open to pupils (past and present), parents, carers, friends, extended family

Cairde Bhunscoil Bheanna Boirche provides educational resources for the Bunscoil and organises family events to generate funds. Regular fundraising events include a Christmas raffle, Spring/Winter clothing collections, a Bunscoil fundraising tea towel, Easter car boot sale and Summer family picnic with a duck race. One of the main events on the
fundraising calendar is to provide financial assistance to the Rang 6/7 trip to the Donegal Gaeltacht. This trip takes place in June every two years, and provides the children with an opportunity to speak the Irish language in its natural environment. Cairde Bunscoil Bheanna Boirche also assists with the cost of transport for the end of year school trip. This reduces the cost to children and enables the Bunscoil a wider choice of venue or activity when choosing where will best enhance the children’s learning. Recent purchases have included an Apple TV for use with the Bunscoil iPads, digital cameras, outdoor storage facility, hurley/camogie equipment and the purchase of the Bunscoil Gaelic football teams’ kit. Cairde Bhunscoil Bheanna Boirche also assisted with the “Book Buddies” reading scheme where parents were trained to help and encourage children with reading.
