What your organisation does

We have a strategy document in place setting out our plan of action for 2015-2017. We hold monthly meetings where we discuss current issues and plan our future initiatives. Our activities to date include running a logo competition with local school children; organising a community table quiz fundraiser; completion of grant applications which

resulted in obtaining funding from Department of Social Development (DSD) and Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council (LCCC); liaising with Carryduff Historical Society; participating in a Community Consultation event to inform the drawing up of a new Local Community Plan; involvement in an arts event to promote LCCC Good Relations week; reviewing and commenting upon planning application for Carryduff shopping centre; organising the Carryduff Christmas Tree switch on event in association with LCCC and liaising with Council and elected members regarding possibility of opening of green spaces in the area. Members have also liaised with local Councillors, Council Officers and MLAs regarding development, infrastructure, traffic and social issues and have highlighted the need for a local community centre and associated facilities to serve the area. We have also made contact with community groups in neighbouring areas and plan to meet to discuss common interests and to provide mutual advice and assistance. We plan to hold annual community events which are open to all and which will contribute to our overall vision of bringing the heart back into Carryduff through the creation of an inclusive and regenerated area with a greater sense of community.
