The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include raising awareness of age appropriate play based learning among parents and carers and the provision of early education for children under statutory school age in Dervock. These benefits are evidenced through feedback from parents, Early Years Advisors and regular evaluation of the service by
Social Services and the Education and Training Inspectorate. This purpose does not give rise to any harm. The beneficiaries of the purpose are children under statutory school age living in Dervock and its surrounding area. They also include parent and carers of children under statutory school age in Dervock and and its surrounding area. A private benefit flowing from this purpose is that gained by a trustee from our programme of on-going training in goo governance, finance etc; which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.

Dervock Community Playgroup has been existing for over 30 years. It is situated in the William Pinkerton Memorial Primary School. The group is registered with Social Service. The total number of children to be cared for on the premises, are 24. Age range from 2 year 10 months and 3 years - 5 years. The group is a member of Early Years the
organisation for young children and the group have been inspected by the department of education. We follow the curriculum guidance for the preschool education. This guidance provides the staff with a range of learning opportunities that the preschool child need. Staff plan learning activities to promote the 6 areas of learning through play. 6 areas of learning are as follows: a, the Arts b, Physical development c, language development d, the world around us e, early mathematical experiences f, personal, social and emotional development Staff attend training to further update their knowledge when needed. Also an early years specialist visits the group to keep us informed of any requirements needed. Children are taken on educational trips, eg, recycling areas - this helps promote progression in learning through play experience and the world around us. Children are provided daily with healthy snacks and physical play outdoors. This promotes awareness of the importance of healthy eating and exercise. Opportunities such as gardening and learning to care for their environment are part of the curriculum guidance. The playgroup have a good shared relationship with the Primary School and is valued throughout the community.
