Public benefits
The purpose of Ballinamallard Historical Society is to advance the knowledge of local history and culture by: (i) Researching the history of the area (ii) Collecting & recording local historical knowledge/folklore from local individuals (iii) Cataloguing articles, photos and other memorabilia for future generations (iv) Sharing the accumulated
knowledge with the public at large by publications, exhibitions or other means (v) Promoting local history & culture by holding regular meetings inviting speakers to share their particular knowledge or expertise. The direct benefits flowing from this purpose include much greater awareness of the arts, culture and heritage which are on display thanks to the Society. There is a much greater awareness of the arts, culture and heritage of the greater Ballinamallard area. Eg During the village festival a walking history tour of the village (which was over subscribed) enlightened a great many people into the richness and heritage on 'their doorstep' that they were hither to unaware. These benefits can be demonstrated by the positive PR received after the events and the willingness of local people to support Historical events, and that our local history publication has completely sold out. The purposes of our charity will not lead to any harm and is a very positive influence in our area. Some of our events are cross community which leads to an awareness of other cultures. The charity’s beneficiaries are attendees of the meetings, exhibitions and those who have read our local history publications, viewed the photographs of past scenes of the village which are on display thanks to the Society. There are no private benefits flowing from the purpose as all expenditure and efforts are geared towards the public good.
