Public benefits

The direct benefit that flow from our purpose include improved outcomes for the children who attend through the enhancement and development of their educational play experiences. The children will develop self confidence, self esteem, feel valued as individuals and become keen confident learners. The families will indirectly benefit from the

pre-school education and care provided to their children. There is a wider benefit to the community as skills learned by the children will be transferred to other environments in the community which promote education, they are the feeder primary schools where the children will be moving on to when they leave Little Flower Playgroup. These benefits are evidenced by feed-back from the primary one teacher who receives transition reports from the playgroup staff on the children's development and progress as they move to primary one. Benefits are evidenced through children's records via observations, daily assessments, curriculum plans, evaluation, photographs and through feed-back from an Early Years Specialist who regularly attends the group monitoring the quality of educational provision offered to the children in the group. We are registered with the Western Health and Social Care Trust and are annually inspected. Our inspection report can be accessed in our group or by contacting the Early Years Team, Clooney Hall Centre, Clooney Terrace, Londonderry. Our group are also inspected by the Department of Education in Northern Ireland where we received an outstanding grade at our last inspection which can be accessed at Deny website: www.etni.gov.uk. Staff meet with the parents once a term to deliver verbal and written reports on their child's progress and the benefits are evidenced through this feed-back from the parents. After consideration the committee and staff believe there will be no harm flowing from our purposes.

Our group runs five morning sessions per week, we are located

in the village of Glebe and our catchment area include Glebe, outlying rural district and Strabane. We work in partnership with parents to support their children's learning ensuring quality of opportunity for all children and their families. We liaise with other health professionals to share information and to support children who have special needs and who require additional support. All staff are qualified, highly experienced and are committed to ongoing professional development in order to provide the best outcomes for the children and their families attending our group. We carry out daily observations which are used to assess each child's individual needs and interests. Staff use observations to plan for children's play interests and experiences under the six areas of the pre-school curriculum to meet their individual needs and to promote their learning outcomes.
