Public benefits

Public Benefit Statement:- The benefits that flow from the purposes statement are:- 1. The opportunity for any member of the public to discuss with volunteers all aspects of the Christian faith. Such discussion can assist in helping the public understand Christian beliefs and result in an increase of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,

goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control all of which are a benefit to the individual and society. 2. Funding via monies provided or “gifts in kind” is used to provide “food banks” and “second hand furniture” which assists those on limited benefits or those caught in poverty to meet their food needs which leads to a healthier lifestyle and/or furnish their house to a reasonable standard at low initial outlay. 3. Administrative and financial services are provided to assist the immigrant community in particular with Job Applications and advice on how to navigate the bureaucracy which is part of society's infrastructure. This means people that avail of these services are able to navigate the system at a much quicker pace and settle into the society quicker which in turns decreases their dependence on social services and reduces their frustration level or increases their understanding of how the system works. 4. Pastoral care takes the form of one to one consultations and late evening outreach ministries. These activities help to combat social and dependency/addiction issues, provide points of contact for further help and assist with decreasing despair and despondency which many in our society suffer from. 5. Support and training is provided through classes for learning English and recreational activities on a weekly basis. These activities help assist with integration into the community which benefits the individual and helps combat loneliness, helplessness, isolation and fear. These benefits can be demonstrated from the number of people attending the thrift shop, those in receipt of food aid, attending English classes, attending basketball training and pastoral outreach events held weekly. There is limited potential to harm to some of our volunteers but occasionally those with addictions can become violent, however this seldom happens and volunteers are trained to deal with this.
