Public benefits
The direct benefits which flow from these purposes include a reduction in housing need and promotion of social cohesion, local community and promotion of family life. There is also a reduction in anti-social behaviour and reduced levels of stress for those who are vulnerable. Benefits are evidenced through feedback from tenants and independent
evaluation by regulatory bodies including the Department for Social Development and Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority. This purpose does not give rise to any harm. The beneficiaries of this purpose are people living in Northern Ireland who are experiencing poverty or those in need by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage. A private benefit to trustees may arise from our programme of ongoing training in good governance, finance etc which trustees can transfer to other settings. However, these skills are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to the beneficiaries.
