The trustees believe that our purpose, to provide training facilities for the people of Northern Ireland, in particular those people who are disabled, by the provision of work and social skills training which will help to equip them for employment opportunities satisfy both elements of the public benefit requirement. The direct benefits which flow
from this purpose include improved work and social skill, improved self-confidence and social inclusion in community workplaces. These benefits are demonstrated through progress on training plans, placement in community work places, feedback from participants and their families at reviews, and through results of internal research carried out with participants measuring the impact participation has on their lives. The purpose does not lead to any harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are people living in Northern Ireland with a disability; the beneficiaries also include family members and carers of the disabled participants. A private benefit to staff may arise from training that is provided in risk assessment, first aid, epilepsy management etc. Through this training staff gain skills and experience which could enhance their future employment prospects, these benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.

We provide disabled participants with vocational training, the participants are supported to gain work and social skills which will enable them to gain employment experience. The participants are provided with person centred training by support workers, the support which is provided is individualised to each of the participants learning needs and
is gained in both sheltered and supported environments. Sheltered training is provided in a social enterprise environment where the disabled participants are provided with intensive work and social skills training by support workers, supported training is provided in a work place within the community supported by a support worker.
