The Fund provides financial support through bursaries to young people in Northern Ireland in order to enable the award winners to participate in enhancing their skills and knowledge in music and the creative arts through educational opportunities. The bursary awards are provided on an annual basis in three categories and the process is managed by
CFNI. Applications are sought from young people annually mainly through schools and colleges and each application must be supported by an applicant's teacher. The Fund works with local organisations to highlight the impact of violence on young people. For example the Fund works with Belfast City Council promoting the valuable work that young people are engaged in making the city safer for their communities. Each year, Belfast City Council’s Youth Awards – or Youth Oscars, as they’ve come to be known - shine a spotlight on the positive work young people are involved with in communities right across the city, and recognises them for their valuable work. The Awards are an opportunity to recognise and say thank you to those young people who are making a difference in their local areas and helping to challenge the stereotypes, as well as representing the city’s young people in a positive way. The awards are organised in partnership with the Belfast Policing and Community Safety Partnership, Belfast Youth Forum, Thomas Devlin Fund, Youth Justice Agency, Belfast Education and Library Board, and PSNI. .
