Public benefits
First purpose: The benefits that flow from this purpose include equipping clients with the advice and resources necessary to enable them to make informed decisions regarding their sexual health and to promote healthy relationships with others. Whether the individual is single, in a relationship, or married, a renewed sense of the virtue of chastity
and the intrinsic value and dignity of the human body will contribute to that individual’s self-respect, health, happiness, and personal growth in social interactions, and, by extension, the health and happiness of families and society as a whole. The ultimate benefit is to see a reduction in teenage pregnancies and a reduction in the spread of sexually transmitted diseases. The Association intends to demonstrate these benefits through one-to-one feedback from clients and evaluations of our services, and, in the long term, through statistics released by the Public Health Agency and Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency. The intended beneficiaries of this purpose are young people living in Northern Ireland and there is no harm caused to them flowing from this purpose. Second purpose: The benefits that flow from this purpose include equipping clients with factual and scientifically accurate information on the humanity and development of the unborn child in the womb and the protection afforded to the unborn child by the law in Northern Ireland. This is to aid their understanding of pregnancy and to give them the freedom to act according to a truly informed conscience and to choose what is right if ever faced with an unexpected pregnancy in the present or future. The ultimate benefit is to see a reduction in the number of young people travelling to Britain or elsewhere to have an abortion. The Association intends to demonstrate these benefits through one-to-one feedback from clients and evaluations of our services, and, in the long term, through the annual abortion figures published by the British Department of Health. The intended beneficiaries of this purpose are young people living in Northern Ireland and there is no harm caused to them flowing from this purpose. Third purpose: The benefits that flow from this purpose are that young people and women of any age facing a 'crisis pregnancy' are able to access all the help they need to overcome any obstacle to choosing life for their unborn child and to ensure that they and their unborn child receive the best treatment they deserve. The Association will provide options counselling, maternity and baby supplies, financial support, and local referrals for any medical treatment a pregnant woman needs, legal advice, housing, adoption services and post-abortion support. Helping clients not only during the nine months of pregnancy but for as long as they need these services will help them find their feet and build confidence in their ability to continue the pregnancy and provide a future for their child. By addressing and eradicating the problems which lead young people and women of any age facing a 'crisis pregnancy' to consider abortion, clients are spared of the potential harmful side effects of abortion and are able to flourish as individuals and members of a family and wider society. The ultimate benefit is to see a reduction in the number of young people and women of any age facing a 'crisis pregnancy' travelling to Britain or elsewhere to have an abortion. The Association intends to demonstrate these benefits through one-to-one feedback from clients and evaluations of our services, and, in the long term, through annual abortion figures provided by the British Department of Health.
