Public benefits

(B) Public Benefit Statement (purpose 1) The direct benefits that flow from this purpose are; (1) Increased knowledge and enhanced skills within the community and voluntary sector and the wider community in the area of benefit to improve quality of life for all sections of the community. (2) Encouraging and developing good practice among the

sector ensures the maximum benefit to the public is achieved through the development of a sustainable, efficient and effective community sector. (3) The provision of a neutral community facility for meetings and events to facilitate and encourage relationship building among community members and offer space for community services to take place where appropriate. (4) The provision of assistance in applications for grants by the voluntary sector (5) The provision of assistance in the administration of funding programmes for the voluntary sector. Public Benefit Statement (Purpose 2) The direct benefits that flow from this purpose are; (1) The development of social and community infrastructure through the promotion of social inclusion and collaborative working across the community and voluntary sector to ensure the best use of resources. (2) The development of a community sector in the area of benefit that can engage with statutory agencies in the decision making process on local issues therefore increasing community involvement in community planning and ensuring a better quality of life for residents. These benefits are evidenced through monitoring the number of participants attending consultation and networking events and increased community involvement in decision making at a local level. Public Benefit Statement (Purpose 3) The direct benefits that flow from this purpose are: (1) Participation in training courses will facilitate the development of individual skills, capabilities, competencies and understanding will build the confidence and capacity of participants (2) Participants will develop skills that increase employability and volunteering ability (3) The development of a better skilled workforce and volunteer network Public Benefit Statement (Purpose 4 ) The direct benefits that flows from this purpose are: (1) Improved relations between all sections of the community including people of different racial, ethnic or religious groups by promoting knowledge and understanding between them. (2) The elimination of discrimination on the grounds of age, gender, religion, race, marital status, sexual orientation, political opinion or disability.

Distribution of a monthly newsletter to share relevant information and events Maintenance of the website and social media accounts to share and publicise information and events Provision of a neutral meeting venue for local groups and individuals Provision of facilities for training and community events Support for local community groups and

initiatives through assistance with sourcing funding, managing grants, organising and delivering programmes and offering support and advice We raise awareness of the principles of community development and how they apply in practice We host various community information events that enable the community sector to participate in consultations, meet potential funders, engage in open discussions on relevant issues affecting their community and share their views and issues We build and maintain effective working partnerships and relationships with statutory agencies and authorities to ensure there is a strong link between the community and statutory sector. We support local groups to develop relationships with statutory agencies to facilitate better targeting of resources and improvement in quality of life. We source and provide appropriate training to meet the needs of the community We support and encourage participants through all stages of engagement and participation in training courses We source opportunities to offer workshops on various issues that promote good relations We ensure all sections of the community have access to our services We organise good practice visits to other areas and groups to build relationships and encourage good community relations

Charitable purposes

The Charity’s objects (“Objects”) are specifically restricted to the following:- (1) The advancement of community development in the Carrickfergus Borough and district area of County Antrim (the “area of benefit”) and in particular the promotion of the community and voluntary sector for the benefit of the public by providing training, support, information, facilities and amenities to, and promote good practice among, community and voluntary groups. (2) To provide and maintain a Forum where member organisations can join together to find mutual support, exchange views, share common issues and information, create a collective voice for the community and voluntary sector and work in partnership with statutory agencies and authorities. (3) To advance education and training. (4) To promote good community relations, religious and racial harmony and equality and diversity.
