Public benefits
This is about the benefit flowing from the charity's purposes. For a charity's purposes to satisfy the benefit element of public benefit, that benefit must have three key features. It must: flow from the charity's purposes be capable of being demonstrated, and be beneficial, not harmful. ERSTNI is the Trustee Body, ie the owners of eight schools
situated in various areas of Northern Ireland. These include 3 primary schools (one with a nursery) and 5 second level schools. Some 6,000 pupils/students attend these schools. The benefit which flows from our purpose is the improved education of the pupils in a caring environment. This education is delivered in accordance with the religion and education philosophy as outlined in the Edmund Rice Schools Trust Charter. The benefit is evidenced through feedback from governors, principals, teachers, parents, pupils, ETI Inspections and public examinations and assessments. This purpose of the Trust is beneficial not harmful.
