Public benefits

Purpose A 2.1 The direct benefit which flows from this purpose is the prevention or relief of poverty through the provision of housing, accommodation, advisory and support services to vulnerable individuals and families in housing need by way of youth, age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage. The beneficiaries of

this purpose are members of the general public throughout Northern Ireland including our tenants and service users, single people, elderly individuals and couples, single parents, couples with or without children, individuals with a physical disability Individuals with learning or mental health difficulties and homeless families. The benefits which flow from this purpose enable vulnerable individuals and families to obtain suitable housing to meet their needs, assistance in sustaining their tenancies and to remain within their own homes and communities by receiving support services appropriate to their needs. These services also contribute to the wider health and well being of individuals and families experiencing the problems and disadvantages associated with housing need by way of youth, age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage. These benefits are evidenced through tenant and customer feedback surveys, independent validation through regulatory bodies including the Department for Social Development (DSD), Supporting People Inspection Quality Assurance Framework (SPQAF), Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority (RQIA) and independent Internal and External Audit. This purpose does not give rise to any harm. A private benefit to Trustees may arise from our purpose through the development and implementation of our governance and leadership functions, delivery of Trustee training programmes and the experience gained in representation roles and activities on behalf of the organisation. These skills, knowledge and experience are incidental and necessary to ensure the delivery of the organisations purpose to its beneficiaries. Purpose A 2.2 The wider benefit which flows from this purpose is the development of sustainable communities, prevention of isolation and exclusion, improved well being and educational and employment opportunities. This purpose is achieved through initiatives including Inter-generational work with schools, support for community environmental initiatives, arts, culture and educational opportunities. The beneficiaries of this purpose are members of the general public and wider communities throughout Northern Ireland irrespective of income or status including our tenants and service users, single people, elderly individuals and couples, single parents, couples with or without children, individuals with a physical disability, individuals with learning or mental health difficulties, homeless families. What your organisation does

The charity undertakes the planning, development and construction of new homes for persons in housing need. We allocate our homes on a social/affordable rental basis to those in housing need. We undertake the management and maintenance of our properties of behalf of our tenants and service users. We carry out disability adaptations works,

cyclical and planned maintenance and stock improvement schemes on our properties for our tenants. We deliver a comprehensive housing management service for our tenants and prospective tenants including housing allocations, housing transfers, rent accounting and arrears management, anti-social behaviour services, management of tenant and resident complaints and tenant engagement and participation services. We provide temporary accommodation for homeless families. We provide housing advice and homeless support services to our tenants and service users.
