Public benefits
Purpose 1: Improved relationships between home and school The benefit which flows from this purpose includes funding for additional resources for the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through having an active PTA that works in partnership with the school and engages parental support. This purpose does not lead to
harm. The benefit is for children at St Josephs Primary school and Nursery Unit. Charity trustees (PTA committee members) are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries. Purpose 2: Advancing the education of pupils in the school The benefit which flows from this purpose includes increased educational progress and attainment of pupils in the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through pupils having access to resources, events, activities and links with the local community which are not available through direct school funding. This purpose does not lead to harm.

Our PTA is made up of a group of parents and staff. We invite all parents and staff to share their skills and help at events we run throughout the year on behalf of the school. These events are available to pupils, their families and also to the wider community. We have ran a Christmas fair which was open to the whole community. We also help
out at various functions which the school run throughout the year, such as providing tea and coffee at communion, confirmation and sports day. We also help to support the library in the school by staffing the library in the mornings before school starts to allow children more flexible access to the library. Last year we bought a suite of IPads for the school and also provided the teachers with training for them. We are a fundraising organisation, but an important part of our role is promoting social inclusion, community relations and providing a communication channel between the parents and the school.
