Public benefits
Purpose 1: Improved relationships between home and school The benefit which flows from this purpose includes funding for additional resources for the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through having an active PTA that works in partnership with the school and engages parental support. This purpose does not lead to
harm. The benefit is for children at Strandtown Primary School. Charity trustees (PTA committee members) are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries. Purpose 2: Advancing the education of pupils in the school The benefit which flows from this purpose includes increased educational progress and attainment of pupils in the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through pupils having access to resources, events, activities and links with the local community which are not available through direct school funding. This purpose does not lead to harm.

Strandtown Primary School PTA Committee is comprised of a group of elected parents and teachers. As a Committee we aim to ensure that all parents, guardians and school staff are involved through opportunities to use their skills and interests at the various events throughout the year. We strive for good communication with pupils and their families
and publish a PTA section in the school newsletter and have recently acquired a section on the newly updated school website which will aid communication further. Every year we organise a full calendar of fund raising and fun events, including both family/friends and pupil only events. Examples of these last year were the Christmas Craft Fair (family event) and school discos (pupils only event). Alongside the school, the Committee agrees how the funds raised will be spent and they are used to purchase resources and equipment for the benefit of as many pupils as possible. Last year in a new venture the PTA Committee worked with the school council to allow the pupils to develop a business case for accessing some PTA funds to purchase their chosen equipment.
