The Erdodi Trust works with and supports Bela and Julia Erdodi who established a Children's Centre in their own home in 1993 to meet the needs of children who were at high risk of neglect. The centre is located in Zalau, Romania. Zalau is classed as one of the most deprived regions of Romania. These children lived in dysfunctional families, some of
them on the street. Over the years the centre has provided a home for 20 children who have suffered the effect of poverty and or physical / sexual abuse. At the centre they are cared for in a family environment. The centre provides shelter, food, clothing and supports them in their educational life. A number of the children have completed third level education. A significant number have learning difficulties and these young adults will remain at the centre for the foreseeable future. Those with learning difficulties and physical diabilities are still being cared for at the centre. At least one committee member visits the centre on an annual basis to discuss needs. They also meet the young people who remain in the centre. Who is the benefit for? The charity's benefits are provided to a group of young people who were socially, emotionally and physically bereft of care by their natural parents. Julia and Bela Erdodi also benefit as they are the family and carers of the young people. Is any harm or possible harm outweighed by the benefits? No harm identified Private benefit. Is there any private benefit? Is it incidental or necessary? Julia and Bela Erdodi provide, with the help of volunteers, the emotional and physical support to those who benefit from the centre. They benefit from the Trusts contribution to heat and light and any minor repairs to the property that the trust funds can cover. The centre is the Erdodi's home and is owned by them. We believe that the provision of a well maintained home environment is essential to the well being of those that the charity seeks to support. There is no private benefit to a trustee.
