Public benefits
The Francina Foundation meets the public benefit requirement in the following ways: 1. The Prevention and Relief of Poverty and the Relief of Those in Need. The Francina Foundation supports children’s homes and orphanages in India, providing safe and secure accommodation together with an education for children who had previously been living
rough on the streets or whose families are no longer able to look after them due to severe poverty. The Foundation also seeks to rescue and provide a refuge for girls who have been sold into prostitution at a young age. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the safety and security of the children and young people concerned. In addition, the education provided gives them a much greater chance of securing employment and earning a wage. Together, these benefits aid the children, and often in turn their families, to break free from the ‘cycle of poverty’. This is turn has a direct benefit to their local communities and wider society. The direct benefits are demonstrated through regular evaluation of services and feedback from children and their families. This evaluation and provision of feedback is prepared in conjunction with the partners of the Foundation in India. This purpose does not lead to harm. The beneficiaries of this purpose are those children and young people who are provided with accommodation and an education or who are rescued from prostitution, their families and, as a result, wider society. There is no private benefit. 2. The Advancement of Education. As stated above, the children’s homes and orphanages that supported by the Foundation provide the children who live there with an education, together with all of the materials required to complete their studies. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include giving the children a much greater chance of securing employment in later life and earning a wage, which in turn will help them, and often, their families, escape from the ‘cycle of poverty’. This is turn is of direct benefit to their local communities and the wider society. The direct benefits are demonstrated through regular evaluation of services and feedback from children and their families.
