Public benefits

The Trust provides Conductive Education which is a specialised method of teaching children with cerebral palsy. The Trust also provides training and support to parents of children with cerebral palsy and to at least 2 carers. The public benefits from our work in that the children gain greater independence and may require less support from Health

and Social Services throughout their life. Individual children gain as every effort is made to assist and realise their potential and to become as independent as possible bearing in mind that they have cerebral palsy and motor disorders. While some children maybe able to self report and walk others will have made great progress by being able to indicate a preference and or to be able to feed themselves and look after their own personal hygiene. The parents of the children benefit because the children are being taught to become more independent. The greater the independence the less work for the parents and less stress.

What your organisation does

Buddy Bear Trust funds and manages an Independent Special Education School recognised and inspected by the Department of Education. The school has been operational from 1993 and provides full time help to some children and part time assistance to other children between the ages of 3 months and 3 years. The Trust currently employs 4 members of

staff and is supported by a number of volunteers. The Trust maintains and equips the school with all the necessary furniture and equipment to meet the needs of the children and ensures that all the policies and procedures are in place to protect the children in accordance with the Child Protection Requirements.
