Public benefits

The purpose of the Major Sinclair Memorial Pipe Band (MSMPB) is to provide everyone within the local community, particularly young people living in and around the Newtownabbey area, with tuition in Highland piping and drumming. Members of MSMPB will benefit by: · Gaining an education and appreciation of the art of Highland piping and

drumming; · Improving their technical proficiency in piping and drumming; · Developing the confidence and self-esteem of participants by encouraging public performance; and, · Developing an ethos of team-working by participation in the Band. MSMPB’s regular monitoring of individual members’ progress will demonstrate participants’ increased education levels, appreciation and improved technical proficiency in piping and drumming. By participating in public performances, the improved level of team-working, confidence and self-esteem of Band members will be evidenced. By promoting piping and drumming, the Band will contribute to preserving and promoting the culture and heritage of the area by, for example, participating in public performances and competitions. The art of piping and drumming will be promoted in an open and inclusive manner to everyone within society. No MSMPB Officer or Member will privately benefit from participation in the Band’s activities. In addition, no harm will flow from the Band’s purposes.
