PUBLIC BENEFITS STATEMENT Purpose: to promote the development of young people in achieving their physical, intellectual and social potential as individuals and as responsible citizens by the provision of education and leisure time activities using a nautical theme. a. The purpose of this organisation is to promote the development of young people

in achieving their physical, intellectual and social potential as individuals and as responsible citizens by the provision of education and leisure time activities using a nautical theme. b. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include: i. Improved the physical health of young people ii. Embedding life skills into young people through nautical themed activities iii. Young people attain qualifications through provision of education, training, learning opportunities and resources iv. Increased community cohesion and social interaction c. These benefits are evidenced through: i. Increased sea cadet numbers ii. Numbers of sea cadets on training courses iii. Number of sea cadets obtaining training qualifications iv. Record of Achievements for sea cadets v. Number of persons using cadet forums vi. Research vii. Increased partnership opportunities to enhance sea cadets experience d. The purpose of our charity may lead to the following harm. In organising activities there is a risk of harm or injury on the activities provided. We can show that this harm is outweighed by the benefits through appropriate risk assessments carried out. e. The charity’s beneficiaries are young people aged between 10 and 18 years of age throughout Northern Ireland. f. The only private benefit flowing from this purpose is that volunteers can obtain training qualifications and skills which are transferable to other settings however, this private benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure that benefits are provided to our beneficiaries.

What your organisation does

We're a national youth charity offering young people aged 10 to 18 life-changing nautical adventure with a heritage based on the customs and traditions of the Royal Navy. We offer a range of qualifications and training from BTEC to RYA accredited courses, helping them to build skills and have an advantage as they start out in life.
