Our organisation helps the public who avail of our services by combating isolation, loneliness and gives those who attend a purpose and interest. They meet friends, discuss various issues relating to social and monetary interest. Information is passed on. New Government guidelines and changes can be discussed and information given if needed. 25 people attended the walking group. They reported that it helped to alleviate their loneliness. They reported they really enjoyed meeting with each other and the physical activity played a large part in their well being. 30 – 40 people attended the knitting group afternoon. They reported that during that time they discussed all aspects of knitting and crochet. They discussed their problems and benefit of knitting. The group discussed and decided what charities they would choose to support by knitting various items eg hats for the sailors and soldiers overseas, fun hats for smoothies for Sainsburys charities. They all benefitted from the social aspect of mixing, sharing and caring. 15 – 20 people ‘drop in’ each morning. They reported they were glad to get out of their homes to combat the loneliness and the group helps their mental and physical health through sharing problems and general chart. Forms are filled in if needed re partners going into nursing homes requiring their finances and benefits t be sorted. There are all sorts of financial problems that the elderly experience. These benefits will be evidenced through • Feedback from clients whom we have helped • Personal thanks • Information passed from our clients to third parties who then come and receive help The purposes of our charity will not lead to any harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are the members who attend our various activities. The only private benefit flowing from the purpose is we reach out to third parties eg someone goes on the group holiday/Christmas activity/outing who does not attend any of the weekly activities. This is incidental and necessary because it is the overall aim of our organisation to reach out to the elderly in the community.
