Public benefits
ICCS’s summary of charitable purpose is the assisting and supporting of Christian organisations, institutions and such individuals as may be in need of financial support and assistance. The public benefits that flow from these purposes are provided interdenominationally and have in common the advancement and furthering of publicly accessible Irish
Christian religion, community, culture and pastoral care. The public benefits are specifically:- (i) Provision of quality Biblical education/training and leadership development directed towards the next generation of laity and leaders within the broad Irish church. (ii) Equipping and encouraging the development of vibrant, inclusive churches/publicly accessible communities of faith which support and care for the diverse personal needs of individual members and reach out to serve and strengthen their wider communities. (iii) In realising (i) and (ii) above, the support of selected individual Christian workers/volunteers in need of financial assistance. These individuals are recognised by the trustees as having both passion and ability in provisioning and facilitating our core charitable public benefits (i) and (ii) above. The activities of these individuals are, in and of themselves, of considerable public benefit to the communities they engage with. (Financial support of individuals is only provided where there is public welfare benefit far in excess to the incidental private benefit gained by the recipients). These benefits can be evidenced in:- (i) Records kept at the Irish Bible Institute (ibi.ie) in relation to both staff who provide, and students who undertake, in-class/online training courses enabling them to better serve their individual churches and the local communities they socially enrich. (ii) Activity reports and attendance of various independent small local church fellowships throughout Ireland who have been supported by the charity. Examples of such fellowships include Youghal Baptist Church (youghalbaptist.ie) and Listowel Christian Fellowship (listowelchristianfellowship.ie). (iii) Reports on activity from individual Christian workers assisted by the charity. Examples include a community youth worker working with Tramore Bible Church (tramorebiblechurch.org) and another supporting university and an college Christian student union groups in Limerick and Cork. No harm arises from these purposes due primarily to their inclusivity and society/community enhancing nature.
