Public benefits

The Trustees believe that CANI’s three purposes satisfy both elements of the public benefit requirement. The direct benefits that flow from purpose one include greater opportunities for participation, fun and enjoyment, health benefits, self-esteem, career development, communication skills, fitness development, meeting like-minded people, stress

reduction and skill development. These benefits are evidenced through feedback from members and regular evaluation of our services both internally and externally. Canoeing is an adventurous activity but risks and harm can be reduced by trained coaches and leaders following NGB guidelines and procedures. The beneficiaries of this purpose are people living in Northern Ireland who are members of CANI, stakeholders in canoe activity and development and all participants of a canoeing activity. There is no private benefit flowing from this purpose. The direct benefits that flow from purpose two include greater opportunities for participation, fun and enjoyment, health benefits, self-esteem, career development, communication skills, fitness development, meeting like-minded people, stress reduction and skill development. These benefits are evidenced through feedback from members and regular evaluation of our services both internally and externally.
