The purposes of Autism Families Community Support Group are to relieve the need of those living with autism or with those who display a significant number of the ‘signs and symptoms of autism’ within the Newry, Mourne & Down area through the provision of support, social integration, advancement of education and provision of facilities. The direct
benefits flowing from this purpose include: 1. ASD children and young people in the Newry, Mourne and Down area are better integrated socially within the family and the community. 2. The quality of life of ASD children and families in the Newry, Mourne and Down area is enhanced through increased opportunities for social integration. 3. The quality of life of ASD children and families in the Newry, Mourne and Down area is enhanced through better access to improved support, training and advice. These benefits can be demonstrated by feedback from the families involved, by observing the young people during the group’s own youth activities and while engaged in other community settings. Improvements in their quality of life can be demonstrated through the number of additional events they take part in and through evaluations carried out on these activities. All of our group’s policies and procedures are up to date and operational and on that basis we consider that the purposes of our charity will not lead to any harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are ASD children and families in the Newry, Mourne and Down area. We consider that there are no private benefits flowing from the organisation’s purpose.
