Purpose 1 The Association is established to relieve poverty, sickness and the aged and to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the St Patrick’s Ward, Newry …. People in the St Patrick’s Ward, Newry receive many benefits through the work of the Three Ways Community Association, these include, but are not restricted to the following: Better
life opportunities. Opportunities to advance or continue education. Opportunities to engage in more active lifestyles through the provision of health related programmes and activities leading to improvements in both physical and mental well-being. Opportunities for stronger bonds to develop between people, where friendly relations build trust and a mutual support network and prevent or reduce social isolation. Opportunities for community to come together to participate and contribute to a vibrant community life and enhanced community spirit. Opportunities for people to increase skills base / capacity. Opportunities for inter-generational activities and programmes. Access to the Ropewalk – 3g multi-purpose pitch adjacent to the Community Centre. Opportunities to address issues in the area of benefit such as anti-social behavior / fear of crime. Opportunities for children and young people to participate in youth clubs and a wide range of personal development programmes Developing people’s confidence and self-esteem to try something new. Building community knowledge. These benefits will be demonstrated by Detailed Log Book maintained in the Community Centre. Quarterly Activity Reports submitted to Council and DSD. Annual Reports Returns to funders / End of Grant Reports Achievements / milestones reached by people in the community. A combination of the above may also bring improvements in people’s employability, physical & mental health/well-being; it may also raise individual aspirations as well as reducing anti-social behaviour, improving community safety and creating less dependence on the State. This Purpose does not give rise to any harm. The benefit is intended primarily for the people living in the St Patrick’s Ward Area which is a designated Neighbourhood Renewal Area with high levels of multiple deprivation. There is no private benefit intended, however, some private benefit may arise to trustees because they may get to learn about various ‘opportunities’ before the rest of the community and may gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings. The Three Ways Community Association is committed to improving conditions for the people in the area of benefit and, as such, we facilitate a wide range of activities, events, programmes, community trips and more; the list below is intended to give a flavour of the type of work the Association is involved with and is not intended to be
exhaustive. Senior Citizens Club – the Golden Oldies. Windmill Playgroup. Summer Schemes. Seasonal Events – St Patrick’s Day, Easter, Halloween and Christmas. Access to Computers and the Internet. Youth Clubs. Inter-Generational Programmes. Running Club. Irish dancing. Various health related activities, such as Ballroom / Jive classes, Zumba dance, Hip Hop. Local community and sports groups / clubs utilise the 3G pitch, 'The Ropewalk', for both training sessions and matches - Three Ways CA manage the hire of this facility and facilitate all bookings. Bingo. Training Courses, such as Child Protection and Emergency First Aid which are facilitated by the Confederation of Community Groups. Inter-Agency Meetings. Committee Meetings / Annual General Meetings. Community Fun Days.
