Public benefits

The public benefit from our group in a number of ways, Barnamaghery is a very rural area and there are no other providers of community activities in the immediate locality. We hold public meetings to inform and educate the local community in such things as safety in the home, crime prevention, fire safety and many other activities such as local

history, flower arranging and a quiz night every year. These activities bring the community together and provide a sense of civic pride in our area. We work with the local authorities and organisations to further the objectives of the Society and have in the past received funding to have a social evening to reward the volunteers for their contribution to the people of the local area. There will be no harm intentional or otherwise arising from the group’s activities and there will be no private benefit flowing from our purpose.

What your organisation does

Our organisation was formed to provide a network of support, education and social activities for the inhabitants of our locality and the surrounding area. We organise educational talks and exhibitions on local history and the stories of local people and places. We also organise events which celebrate and acknowledge the role of volunteers in our

community. We offer opportunities for training and certification in subjects such as Child Protection and Access NI accreditation. We organise a range of community interest activities such as flower arranging, health and well being and a community quiz event.
