Public benefits
The direct benefit which flows from this purpose is to build confidence, improve musical knowledge and understanding enabling all to take a more active role in the community in which they live. It enables people of all ages to engage in musical and social activity, thereby learning new skills and affording them the opportunity to further develop
interaction within the community. The main beneficiaries of this purpose are the people living in the greater Newry area although the work of the band impacts throughout Northern Ireland. The benefits are evidenced by regular feedback from members and participants in the learning and tuition programmes. This purpose does not give rise to any harm. A private benefit may arise from tuition and learning programmes where members gain skills which are transferable to other settings, such as solo competitions. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to as many beneficiaries as possible.
