The direct benefit which flows from this purpose includes the advancement of education, citizenship and community development by the promotion of information and knowledge through research and training on various issues including equality, democracy and governance, reconciliation, peace building and civic society amongst others. Benefits are

evidenced through feedback from beneficiaries and funders. This purpose does not give rise to any harm. The beneficiaries of this purpose are people living in the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland and overseas. A private benefit to trustees may arise from our programme of ongoing training in good governance, finance etc. through this training trustees gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings. These skills are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to the beneficiaries.

Charitable purposes

The objects of the Charity are:- 3.1. the advancement of human rights (as set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and subsequent United Nations conventions and declarations), conflict resolution or reconciliation or the promotion of religious or racial harmony or equality and diversity; and 3.2. the advancement of citizenship and community development through education, raising awareness, conducting research and promoting dialogue and co-operation, enhancing leadership and governance for the benefit of the public in Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and internationally hereinafter called the “area of benefit”. Nothing in the articles shall authorise an application of the property of the Charity for purposes which are not charitable in accordance with s.2 of the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008 or its equivalent in the Republic of Ireland.
