Public benefits

Purpose: To relieve poverty, sickness and the aged and to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the Tattyreagh Community and district area of Co Tyrone and it environs (hereinafter described as "the area of benefit") without distinction of age, sex, race, political, religious or other opinion, by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary

organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education, and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare, for recreation or other leisure time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include: increased social interaction through our events; improved physical activity as people frequent the play park and walk around the pitches; improved health outcomes through the health watch initiative; increased interest among our young people in nature and our environment; local history/heritage event brought people together to reminisce which led to increased interest among the local community about their area/ place name, its history and inhabitants. These benefits will be evidenced by: numbers attending events; geographical spread of litter pick; verbal feedback from participants; increased use of the local club facilities adjacent to the play park for walking in a safe traffic free location; increased engagement and interest from the young people and parents in the wildlife/ environment. We do not anticipate any harm leading from this purpose. We have a play park however it has safety surfacing and meets all safety regulations; it is checked annually by ROSPA for defects, the committee check it more regularly and the park has public liability insurance. The charity’s beneficiaries are people within the Tattyreagh area of Omagh District. There is no private benefit flowing from this purpose.

What your organisation does

Tattyreagh Youth & Community Group promotes social interaction among all ages in our community. We do this by focusing in particular on the youth & senior citizens in the community through various projects that have developed over a period of time. In Late 2010-11 the committee undertook a survey to ensure the work we were planning was in keeping

with the needs of the area. A total of 200 surveys were circulated locally, identifying the top 3 areas as: 1 Play Area for children up to 11 years old 2. Crèche & After schools facilities from pre school through to secondary school children. 3. local transport networks for all ages but in particular the senior citizens in our community. We accomplished the development of a community play park in June 2014 and are actively working on the others. In our community we have local events such as youth club nights for the ages of 8-18 & social nights for all ages in the community. There are away days & events to local & regional attractions for example, Annual events for all ages to celebrate St Patrick's Day, Christmas & the New Year as well as Summer Youth Clubs for primary school & secondary school age groups. There is also a Halloween Fancy dress for children. A number of these events help raise funding for the group through admission fees, quiz nights & raffles. On an environmental theme we have carried out litter picks and a bat night involving the local bio diversity officer who helped attract bats in the Halloween Season which was a popular event for young and old. As a community Group we have each year identified in conjunction with the local football club a charity to benefit from our fundraising through the Annual 5 Mile run.
