Public benefits

There are 3 main purposes for our organisation which satisfy the elements of the public benefit requirement: 1st Purpose: Relieve Poverty, Sickness and the Aged – The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include opportunities to participate in affordable programmes and activities which help to tackle social isolation and exclusion which

helps improve the mental health of people in our community. We also run a number of programmes which benefit the physical health of our community, in particular those aimed at our senior citizens. 2nd Purpose: To advance education – The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the opportunity for the people in our community to take part in a number of different courses including; painting, flower arranging, gardening etc. This gives residents the opportunity to take part in courses and try something new which they would not otherwise have the opportunity or finances/ resources to do. We also organise outings and trips to places of educational interest. 3rd Purpose: To provide facilities in the interest of public welfare – The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include; the delivery of a range of projects and activities held in our local community centre which benefit all those who participate. We also provide an annual Christmas dinner for any resident in Coleshill who would like to attend. The provision of these programmes and activities raises the confidence and self-esteem of those who are involved and it helps to tackle issues such as social isolation and loneliness. These benefits are all demonstrated through verbal feedback and evaluation forms which are completed after each activity/ trip. The direct beneficiaries of our organisation are those living in Coleshill in Enniskillen and the wider Enniskillen area. Participants on our programmes directly benefit from this engagement. Members of our committee attend regular inter-agency meetings where issues affecting the local community can be addressed by the relevant agency e.g. Environmental Issues, Housing Issues, Issues with roads/ footpaths. This indirectly benefits the wider community as we are representing the whole area and listen to the wider needs. The wider community also benefit through the outcome of the projects we run such as estate inspections and clean ups, planting etc. This allows the profile of our area to be raised which increases people’s pride in our area. Coleshill Community Association promotes equality of opportunity without distinction of age, gender, race, political, religious or other opinion. There is no harm relating to any of these benefits.

What your organisation does

It gives the opportunity for our senior citizens to meet on a regular basis and to perhaps take on a new hobby or interest. It encourages them to leave their homes and interact with their neighbours for a chat and cup of tea. It also allows us to give them the opportunity to propose ideas for something they would like us to organise for them.
