Public benefits

The direct benefits which flow from the groups purposes include provision of a range of educational, historical, social and recreational activities mainly based within Dooneen Community Education Centre for the members of the local community living with the rural community of Tempo and surrounding district, providing them with the opportunity to

avail of activities that assist improve their educational attainment, understanding of local history, social interaction and conditions of life through activities that would not normally be made available to them. Examples of activities provided being Historical Talks, Computer Classes, Old Tyme Dancing Classes, First Aid Classes, Music and Storytelling Sessions, computer classes, art classes for both adult and children, yoga and guitar lessons. Many of these activities are organised by Dooneen Community Association and Historical Society linking with Local Authorities, Statutory Bodies and Voluntary Organisations. Benefits of the activities are evidenced by measurement of numbers participating in activities and receiving feedback from users of the community education centre. The only private benefit flowing from our purposes are that Dooneen Community Association and Historical Society members and their immediate families can participate in all activities and this is incidental and necessary to ensure that all members of the community can potentially benefit. There is no harm flowing from the purposes of Dooneen Community Association and Historical Society.

What your organisation does

Dooneen Community Association is a non-profitable, voluntary, cross-community organisation which provides valuable educational services for the local rural community. In addition to this, the centre is readily available for small community functions which strengthens and gels together this rural environment. Also, informative historical education

is regularly provided on site encapsulating many varied topics. A vast array of classes are available at Dooneen. These include : computer literacy courses for beginners who then advance to more challenging classes, Irish language, art classes for both adults and children, yoga, guitar lessons and traditional Irish dancing. As part of our charity focus, we bi-annually organise events to fund raise for designated causes.

Charitable purposes

The Association is established to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Dooneen and the neighbourhood (hereinafter called the area of benefit) without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions, by associating together the said inhabitants and the local authorities, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to advance education and public education in local history in Tempo and district in County Fermanagh and to provide facilities in the interest of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants.
