Public benefits

1. To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the area and its environs without distinction of age, sex, disability, race, political, religious or other opinion; The direct benefit which flows from this purpose is improvement of the area for all inhabitants regardless of age, gender, sexuality, nationality, ethnic origin, political or religious

opinion. We believe that this purpose will lead to no clearly identified harm. There may be private benefits from the provision of training and support, but these benefits would be incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. 2. To associate the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in common effort to advance education; The direct benefits which flow from this purpose are: improved educational aspirations and attainment; and increased partnership-working. We believe that this purpose will lead to no clearly identified harm. There may be private benefits from the provision of training and support, but these benefits would be incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. 3. To provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation; The direct benefit which flows from this purpose is the ongoing provision of a community space for programmes and activities for all inhabitants from the area of benefit; to improve social welfare. In maintaining and managing the facilities there is potential harm to be aware of through failure to meet health and safety requirements, or failure to meet insurance and risk assessment requirements. However the Association will ensure the benefit outweighs any harm through proper management of the facility. A private benefit may arise through the use of the facilities by beneficiaries for private use (eg. birthday parties or other private functions) as a result of having initially used the centre for public activities. These benefits are incidental and do not deter from the wider public benefit of this purpose and indeed add to it through increased awareness of the centre. 4. To improve conditions of life for the said inhabitants. The direct benefit which flows from this purpose is improved conditions of life for all inhabitants regardless of age, gender, sexuality, nationality, ethnic origin, political or religious opinion. We believe that this purpose will lead to no clearly identified harm. There may be private benefits from the provision of training and support, but these benefits would be incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. All of these benefits are evidenced through feedback from beneficiaries, government statistics or annual reports. The charity’s beneficiaries from all of these purposes are inhabitants of Walkway and its environs.
