Foyle Film Projects was established in 1987 by members of the local film community to organise the annual Foyle Film Festival and regular film and TV workshops. Foyle Film Projects remains committed to community access, participation and developing new audiences. Foyle Film Projects works together with the Nerve Centre, an arts and community
venue which provides access to facilities, training, education, exhibition and production for many young and unemployed people in Derry and Northern Ireland. Since 1995 Foyle Film Projects has worked with the Nerve Centre to deliver the annual Foyle Film Festival. In addition to the annual Foyle Film Festival, Foyle Film Projects works wither the Nerve Centre on the Intercultural & Anti-racism Festival and after schools FILMCLUB. The main beneficiaries of the work of the organisation are the general public who attend events and exhibitions and those engaged in our community film projects which includes emerging film makers and the like. The audience of the Film Festival are children and young people and specifically young adults and the general public who attend events, exhibitions, festivals and performances at the film festival.

Foyle Film Projects delivers a range of education, exhibition and training projects. In the past the organisation has received funding for full time training and education workshops. Foyle Film Projects also delivered the annual Foyle Film Festival as well as other cinema education events and workshops.
