Public benefits

Nerve Centre is an arts and community venue comprising performance space, cinema, edit suites, rehearsal and recording studios, and education & training facilities that is engaged in providing access to facilities, training, education, exhibition and production for many young and unemployed people in Derry and Northern Ireland. The Nerve Centre

provides a cultural outlet for many young people who feel excluded from what is traditionally regarded as the "arts sector". The Nerve Centre currently has approx 100,000 people benefiting from the work of the centre across it’s various events, programmes and projects. As the first major arts centre of its kind, specifically dedicated to providing a link between young people, the arts and new technology, the Nerve Centre provides a stimulating cultural space and centre of excellence for a generation of young people who have often felt excluded from the arts. The rationale for setting up the Nerve Centre was to provide opportunities for disengaged young people and local communities, and our focus remains on increasing access, community engagement, and reaching new audiences. The main user groups of the Nerve Centre are children and young people and specifically young adults and the general public who attend events, exhibitions, festivals and performances. The Nerve Centre is a invaluable part of the arts and community infrastructure within Derry/Londonderry. As a neutral venue it is used by a variety of groups and individuals.
