Public benefits

We believe our 2 purposes satisfy the elements of the public benefit requirement as follows: Purpose 1: the advancement of community development by working with the relevant statutory and voluntary bodies to improve the conditions of life for local people. The direct benefit that flows from this purpose is that the conditions of life for people

living in our area are improved through a number of means; by taking part in activities/ projects/ programmes which we either provide ourselves, or which have been organised and promoted through our working with other statutory and voluntary organisations; by having access to services which have been organised locally through our working with other agencies which they would not otherwise have the opportunity and by making the people in our community aware of the various programmes and services which are available to them, both locally and in the wider Enniskillen area. These benefits are demonstrated through feedback from members of our community who have participated in activities and services, attendance records of programmes which have been run locally, and feedback from other organisations who have run projects and services in our area. Purpose 2: the advancement of environment issues directly affecting windmill heights through working with appropriate agencies for the benefit of local people. The direct benefit that flows from this purpose is that environmental issues that affect our community are identified by the residents, raised at the Inter agency meetings and addressed by the relevant agencies. This encourages increased pride in our area, raises the profile of our area and ensures the involvement of residents in improving the area in which we live. These benefits are demonstrated through environmental improvements which have been made in our community through our working with the statutory agencies, through minutes of Inter-agency meetings where issues are raised and addressed and through completed estate inspection toolkits from our inspections that take place annually with the statutory agencies. This benefit is also demonstrated through feedback from residents on work that has been done and improvements which have been made. The beneficiaries of these purposes are the people living in Windmill Heights and the immediate surrounding area, which is an area of social deprivation. Those who attend activities/ projects/ events etc. in the Community Centre, directly benefit through their participation and social interaction. Those who avail of outreach services that are provided directly benefit from having access to local, low cost services which they may not otherwise avail of or be aware of. The whole community benefits by local issues being raised and addressed at the relevant forum by the committee who are representing the whole area, and improvements that are made as a result. The wider community benefits as the profile of the area is raised through the work of the community association which has a positive impact on the wider community and its environs. The members of our association also benefit through their involvement, with increased confidence and self-esteem and a sense of satisfaction that they are working to help their neighbours and those deprived in our estate. There is no harm or private benefit related to any of these benefits.
