Public benefits

Our beneficiaries are the inhabitants of the Arch Diocese of Blantyre in Malawi but also those in its environs without distinction of age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnic identity, political or religious opinion. Purpose 1 The direct benefit which flows from the relief of poverty and hunger is that the beneficiaries

will have basic essentials, food and shelter. Improvements are made to the beneficiaries’ quality of life and personal development. These benefits will be evidenced by the provision of food to relieve hunger but also by providing those in need with the means and training to grow their own food, namely seed and fertiliser. This enables people to have food in the long term. We plan to support further projects which will help people to work their way out of poverty. Purpose 2 The direct benefit which flows from the advancement of education is that the education attainment of young people will be developed and improved through attendance at formal education establishments. These benefits are evidenced through the number of students being supported. We have provided grants to assist with school fees and living expenses and help to provide accommodation for residing students. Over the past three years we have been funding the building of a secondary school, a block of two classrooms each year and outfitting it plus the nearby hostel for residing students. Purpose 3 The direct benefit which flows from the promotion and preservation of health is that suffering and distress will be relieved among the beneficiaries and their quality of life should be improved. These benefits will be evidenced through the provision of financial assistance to buy medicines, and for the cost of medical treatment at clinics and hospitals, as well as, providing financial assistance for basic hygiene products. Private benefit: there is no private benefit. Harm: there is no perceived harm, only good, that will come from our work.
