SARWN is a voluntary organisation established to articulate the voice of rural women and to help and support community based women's groups and individual women to achieve their goals, by providing advice, information, guidance, training and educational opportunities in local venues. SARWN is the umbrella group of other local women's groups. SARWN

aims to be the 'voice of rural women' from the wider South Armagh area, the Directors and staff represent rural women on committees which benefit to it's members. SARWN provides local women and local women's groups with advice on how to establish, run and govern voluntary organisations, how to access funding and SARWN gives assistance where necessary on how to complete an application form. SARWN works in partnership with other voluntary women's groups from both sides of the border and seeks to disseminate information on local issues, policies, rural issues etc. SARWN offers a range of courses to its members including ICT classes, to Personal Development Training, Reconciliation training, conflict resolution, equality and diversity training and various arts and crafts. SARWN also have a befriending service which they offer to their members.

What your organisation does

SARWN will:- Provide and secure the provision of information, advice and education for the support and development of local community organisations; Network with other women’s groups locally, nationally and internationally providing support to the various women’s groups within the Network, through the sharing of information and resources, in

furtherance of the above objects; Represent the interests of the community and the community and the Company’s members to the public and all statutory and voluntary organisations; Provide or support the provision of services and facilities and appropriate structure in the communities on the area of benefit in furtherance of the above objects; Provide insurance, maintain and equip or assist in the provision maintenance and equipment of premises and facilities designed to carry out the objects of the Company.; Bring together in conference representatives of voluntary organisations, Government departments, statutory authorities and individuals; Arrange and provide for, either alone or with others, the holding of exhibitions, meetings, lectures, classes, seminars or training courses; Collect and disseminate information on all matters relating to its objects and to exchange such information with other bodies having similar objects whether in the United Kingdom or elsewhere; and Write, print or publish in what ever form, such papers, books, periodicals, pamphlets or other documents, including films and recorded material, as shall further its objects, and to issue or circulate the same whether for payment or otherwise.

Charitable purposes

The company is established to promote the benefit of women in South Armagh by the advancement of education, the preservation and protection of health and by the provision of facilities for recreation or other leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life of such women who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disablement, poverty or social and economic circumstances.
