Public benefits

The public benefit flowing from these purposes is that parents of pre-school age can access full day care in their own local area. This benefits both their families and their children in that childcare is provided at a reasonable cost in a very professional manner. There is a benefit to the children in that all of the staff are highly motivated,

highly trained and highly professional and all aspects of the pre-school educational curriculum are strictly adhered to. There is a further benefit in that the group offers after school childcare between the hours of 2 and 6pm. This means that parents can go to work in the knowledge that their children are being picked up from school and cared for in safe secure premises until they are ready to collect them in the evening. This also has benefits for local business because local parents are able to work full time rather than part-time. There is a further benefit in that the group offers a summer scheme in July and August when children would normally be off on holidays from school. The parents benefit from being able to continue working because they can entrust their children to the care of Magherafelt Women’s Group. Many other women also benefit from the range of educational and recreational courses that are organised by the group. These take place in the Women’s Groups’ own premises and are delivered by fully trained professional community tutors. Participants benefit by having somewhere to go and socialise, learn new skills, get further qualifications, enhance their CV’s for reasonable prices in community facility. Other community groups benefit from the work of the group because they can hire meeting rooms or lecture room facilities to run their own activities when these are available. The benefits are measured by the numbers of children attending the daycare or afterschool childcare and the numbers involved in the summer schemes. There is regular feedback from parents, and a regular report to parents on the achievement of their children. Benefits can also be measured by the regular evaluations which take place during and after the education courses. Focus groups are regularly held to determine customer satisfaction and levels of public benefit and these inform planning, future events and activities by the Directors. There is no harm associated with the activities of Magherafelt Women’s Group Ltd.

What your organisation does

Magherafelt Women’s Group Ltd provided childcare services in its premises of Moneymore Road Magherafelt. It is one of the few local childcare organisers to offer full day care for preschool children. It also offers after school childcare between 2 and 6pm when children with parents are working full time can be collected and looked after by the

group employees. During the months of July and August the group organises and manages a summer scheme so that parents can continue to work knowing that their children will be safely looked after as part of those summer schemes. They also offer a whole range of educational, recreational and leisure time activities, local women who because of social or economic circumstances would not have access to such facilities.
