Public benefits

One of the direct benefits which derive from our charitable purpose is a well-equipped estate for the needs of local residents. Engagement with local agencies has provided improved services for our beneficiaries such as the provision of a new play and recreational area for the young people of the area, clean and well maintained streets and road

ways, improved housing and a strong community spirit in the area. Friendships have developed within the estate as a result of the events provided by the Comm Assoc which provide opportunities to meet new people which provides benefits socially and mentally through engagement with others. Older residents have become less anxious due to the Neighbourhood Watch scheme which is managed by the association which has created a reduction in social isolation. Benefits also include developing the skills and confidence of members and trustees in dealing and liaising with agencies and in organising events and activities. How benefit is demonstrated: As the area of benefit is quite small the committee have regular contact with residents and receive feedback on a regular basis. The numbers of young people using the play facilities and the reduction in young people causing annoyance to older residents are also indicators of the benefits. The estate is also very settled with little turnover. Recently we were pleased that at our AGM we elected a strong committee of 8 local residents who were prepared to commit to the group and we also received positive feedback from our local Councillor on the benefits of the group. The benefits do not give rise to any harm. The beneficiaries are those living within the area of benefit. A private benefit to trustees may arise from the trustee developing skills and experiences through dealing with agencies or planning events which may be useful other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to the beneficiaries.
