Public benefits

Our purpose is the advancement of education and the development of children, the preservation and protection of health and the promotion of the benefit and wellbeing of children aged between 3 and 11 years old and in particular but not exclusively children under statutory school age ("the beneficiaries") in the Derrytrasna area and its environs of

Co Armagh (the area of benefit). The public direct benefits that flow from this purpose are that children aged between 3 and 11 years old ("the beneficiaries"), from the Derrytrasna area ("the area of benefit"), are provided with the necessary support to enhance their educational, mental, emotional and social development in a safe environment . These children will thus be prepared to enter the primary school that is also in the Derrytrasna area. Thus, the wider community also benefits indirectly as each generation of children benefit from such a strong educational and developmental foundation. There are no private benefits flowing from the purpose of our oganisation. These benefits will be evidenced through our periodic parental surveys we ask parents of the Playgroup children to fill in and the reports that are generated through independent inspections that are carried out. While there have been no serious accidents to date, the staff are well trained in health and safety/first aid and can cope with any small accidents that may arise while children are playing inside or outside. The benefits of our service outweigh any risks. Another purpose is to advance the education, development and well being of children ("the beneficiaries") out-of-school hours and during school holidays in the interests of social welfare so as to develop their physical, mental and emotional capacities in the Derrytrasna area ("area of benefit"). The public direct benefits that flow from this purpose is that through the provision of Breakfast and Afterschool Clubs the children are able to develop educationally and emotionally in a safe environment during out-of-school hours and school holidays. Parents from the Derrytrasna area also receive the necessary support that enables them to work, thus helping to strengthen the social economy of the area. Therefore, the wider Derrytrasna community also benefits indirectly. There may be a private benefit that is incidental regarding private businesses benefiting from parents being able to work and thus have more resources to spend within the community. These benefits will also be evidenced through our periodic parental surveys we ask parents of the Clubs children to fill in and the reports that are generated through independent inspections that are carried out. While there have been no serious accidents to date, the staff are well trained in health and safety/first aid and can cope with any small accidents that may arise while children are playing inside or outside. The benefits of our service outweigh any risks.
