The Trustees believe that our Purpose satisfies both elements of the public benefit requirement. The direct benefits which flow from our sole purpose include:- providing grants social interaction in the form of Christmas parties and other day and evening social events provision of specialist disability equipment improved independence improved
mobility providing information, support and advice on finance/health/education/benefits/employment/housing facilitating and supporting research programmes providing fully accessible and affordable holiday accommodation improved health outcomes reduced levels of stress and anxiety These benefits are (will be) demonstrated through:- interaction and feedback from beneficiaries, Facebook page/social media contact. No harm arises from the purposes. There is no private benefit flowing from our purpose. All members, including trustee members, are entitled to gain access to all our services. Services to groups Day/evening events – Christmas and social events are held for the younger members and evening and Christmas events are held for the teenage and adult members. The charity fully funds a 1 hr weekly Saturday afternoon swim session at the Templemore Swim Centre, Belfast. The charity works in conjunction with Surestart and
Disability Sport NI to provide social events and sports clubs. Services to individuals Personal advice service provided to our service users. Relevant information and research requests are disseminated to our users. Financial assistance in the form of moving home, marriage, equipment and general grants is provided to our members. Individual support and advice is given on benefits, finance, health, education, accommodation, transport, insurance etc with signposting to the relevant authorities. The charity owns a caravan which provides fully accessible holiday accommodation for service users from March to October. Assistance is provided in finding external funds to benefit service users’ welfare. We work with families, individuals, carers and professionals to:- • support all aspects of living with Spina Bifida or Hydrocephalus • overcome challenges • encourage achievements • advocate for better attitudes and services • provide support and information • provide financial assistance and make grants or donations • assist in the provision of specialist disability equipment and apparatus
