Charitable Purpose 1 The relief of people with a learning disability in particular by the provision of help and support for them and for their families, dependants and carers. The direct benefits which flow from Purpose 1 include the distribution of caring responsibilities in relation to people with learning disabilities and temporary respite for
the families and carers of these people. These benefits are evidenced through continued attendance at the club by people with learning disabilities and feedback from those people, their families, dependants, carers and the volunteers involved in running the club. There is no harm involved in connection with Purpose 1. The charity’s beneficiaries are persons with learning disabilities, their families, dependants and carers. Charitable Purpose 2 To provide or assist in the provision of facilities for the recreation or other leisure time occupation for people who have need thereof by reason of learning disability with the object of improving their conditions of life. The direct benefits which flow from Purpose 2 include an improved quality of life for people with learning disabilities attending the club, achieved through social interaction and recreational activities in a safe and protected environment. These benefits are evidenced through continued attendance at the club by people with learning disabilities and feedback from those people, their families, dependants, carers and the volunteers involved in running the club. There is no harm involved in connection with Purpose 2. The charity’s beneficiaries are persons with learning disabilities, their families, dependants and carers.

To complete our Charitable Purpose 1: We increase public awareness and understanding of the abilities of people with a learning disability, their problems and needs and those of their families, dependents and carers, in order to assist their integration into society We encourage mutual help and co-operation between families, dependents and carers
of people with a learning disability (particularly within the geographical vicinity of the Orchardville Ravenhill Gateway Club) and also between them and other agencies and individuals who work for and with them. We co-operate with other charities, voluntary bodies and statutory authorities operating in furtherance of the objectives of the Orchardville Ravenhill Gateway Club or of similar charitable objectives and to exchange information and advice with them.

"learning disability" means any developmental disability of the mind and any associate condition however cause and whether mild, moderate or severe.
