Public benefits

The direct benefits which flow from the purpose is the education of young people and adults to help them develop their musical talents in a responsible environment and helping them acquire a sense of achievement by displaying their talents in public at numerous functions. These benefits are demonstrated by the ability of the members to turn out

in a respectable manner to play music and the attendance and support of the public at these functions as well as the continued repeat requests for the band’s presence. The main beneficiaries of this purpose are those who train and acquire skills in music and related activities of the band together with the members of the public who attend the various functions looking for good entertainment. A private benefit to trustees may arise through their skills and experience acquired through our training programme and which may be transferrable to other settings, these benefits are necessary to ensure that the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.

What your organisation does

Mavemacullen Accordion Band meets as an organization for the purpose of teaching young people and some older people as well to play accordion music and drumming under the guidance of the band master who decides when a learner is capable of going out with the band. The band normally meets for this purpose once a week all year round.

The band attends parades, sports events etc, mainly through spring and summer with concerts, Church services and Christmas events in winter. As well the band organizes its own fundraising events such as dances, treasure hunts barbecues, concerts and quizzes.

Charitable purposes

To advance the education of young people and adults mainly from but not confined to the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon area by providing an outlet to develop their musical talents on the accordion and other accompanying instruments enabling them to participate in community activity by playing music at youth activities, sports events, parades, concerts, church services and Christmas events throughout Northern Ireland.
