Public benefits

• The promotion of health and wellbeing of people with disabilities and their families. Our players will become fitter and stronger therefore having improved physical health which in turn will lead to improved mental health. This will also be improved through involvement in coaching and the club committee, both of which will help to give a sense of

belonging and inclusiveness to our members who often feel excluded from society. • These benefits are demonstrated through the collation of statistical information on the number of people with disabilities participating in our wheelchair basketball programmes. These benefits are also demonstrated through the preparation of individual and project case studies which record how participation in our wheelchair basketball programmes improve the health and wellbeing of people with disabilities. The results of the quantative and qualitative data collected will be available on request and will be published on an annual basis in the board reports for the clubs AGM. • Disabled people and their families in Northern Ireland. • Our purpose does not give rise to any harm. • The beneficiaries of our purpose are people with disabilities and their families living in Northern Ireland. A direct benefit that may arise from this purpose is that the children, siblings or partners of our Trustees may on occasions benefit through participation in our wheelchair basketball programmes. However, the beneficiaries access the programmes and services in the same way as all other beneficiaries and do not receive any preferential treatment. This benefit is therefore incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries.

What your organisation does

We provide coaching in basketball. This includes nutrition and physical instruction. This is to increase the well being of all involved. There is also a social advantage. Club members mix with others who have varying degrees of disability and gain friendship and encouragement to allow them to better understand life and how to cope with

difficulties that they may have to face. Players can become coaches themselves and they also have the possibility of playing for their country
