Public benefits
1. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose are promotion of peace-building services across the Community, Public and Private sectors of Northern Ireland and good relations locally, nationally and internationally. Assisting the change management process within organisations, groups and individuals that lead to the development of strong and
flexible relationships that will create a respectful society and ultimately alleviate suffering. 2. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose are increased provision of bespoke grass roots capacity building and accredited training that take individuals and groups through a transitioning process, away from conflict. The benefits include increased capacity for the prevention, management and resolution of conflict situations, thereby increasing conflict resolutions and reducing the suffering of violent conflict; 3. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose are improving human rights, reconciliation, racial harmony, equality and diversity through creating a space for meditative conversations and interactions that support the development of peaceful and stable communities; embedding good relations at the heart of community development and statutory policy and services; the transitioning of individuals, groupings and communities away from conflict; increased contact, dialogue, sharing and integration within and between communities; and support creative and innovative approaches to dealing with contentious issues; building cohesion within and between communities to deliver improved relationships; greater understanding and acceptance of diversity between communities, thereby reducing sectarianism; this may necessarily involve initial engagement with single identity communities provided it leads to cross-community engagement; underpinning of the Peace Process and promotes economic prosperity by increasing the skills base and future employability within interface communities. These benefits can be demonstrated through an increase in the number of people trained in good relations and conflict resolution skills; evaluation and feedback forms from participants on how attitudes have changed and how participants feel that they have achieved their learning outcomes. Public benefits will be demonstrated by the removal of contentious images or flags, peaceful commemorative events, shared resources in contested areas, collaborative working and strategic policy developments. In addition all our grant funded projects have reports, and evaluations which have to be filled in to show how project targets have been met and outputs and outcomes achieved through meeting these targets. This is demonstrated by way of reports and evaluation forms which have to be reported back to funders. No harm arises from TIDES purposes. The beneficiaries of these purposes are individuals and groups mainly in Northern Ireland but also internationally that have not previously, or only partially, participated in community development and peace building activities in targeted urban and rural areas. Targeted engagement and participation of disaffected young people who are vulnerable and at risk of paramilitary involvement and unlawful activity. Targeted engagement with ex-combatant groupings, elected representatives and statutory organisations/agencies. No private benefit arises.
