Public benefits
The advancement of citizenship or community development - The direct benefit which flows from this purpose is the increased level of social inclusion for members of Northside 50+ and the promotion of volunteering and developing and inspiring civic values and community activity with the Greater Shantallow Area. These benefits are evidenced through
increased numbers of older people attending out weekly meetings, increased numbers of volunteers and volunteering opportunities for those aged 50+, feedback from volunteers and committee involved with events and training, focus groups and a regular evaluation of all work carried out. There is no harm flowing from this purpose. The beneficiaries are residents aged 50+ living within the Greater Shantallow Area. A private benefit may arise to committee members who may from time to time avail of training programmes in matters such as governance, but this is necessary for professional standards to be maintained to carry out the work of Northside 50+ and to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.

Northside 50+ Club is a vibrant, volunteer lead older peoples group in the heart of the community of Shantallow, Derry, who meet every Monday to engage in a wide variety of activities. The Northern Ireland Multiple Deprivation Measure (NIMDM) 2010 provides information on seven types of deprivation and an overall measure of multiple deprivation
for small areas places Shantallow at number 11, indicating severe levels of deprivation. During this year the group have enjoyed organizing and participating in a Good Relations Project, networking events, health & Well being programme, arts & Crafts activites, flower arranging, dance and crocheting skills to name a few. At the minute we are busy with chair aerobics and line dancing. Our group has in excess of 70 members and new faces are always welcome. We pride ourselves on offering a vital service to the local community and enabling older people to experience and try new things in a safe and supportive environment. We have delivered many successful programmes with the aid of funders such as Big Lottery, DCSDC GR Fund, DCSDC CSF and NHIP which address the needs of older people in our area. We are familiar with monitoring, evaluation and reporting procedures.
