Ardglass Festival Association is established to advance education, to promote the arts and to promote the benefit of the Ardglass (hereinafter called 'the area of benefit) by the provision of facilities in the interest of social welfare for recreation or other leisure-time occupation of people in the area of benefit who are in need of such
facilities by reason of their youth, age, disability or social or economic circumstances and in particular to: a)Encourage appreciation for and active participation in community-based arts activities among people in the area of benefit The direct benefits which flow from our purpose includes giving people an opportunity to get together with others to enjoy and participate in arts activities and entertainment and enjoy the social interaction which flows from the events organised by the festival committee throughout the year. The participants learn new skills and share their own knowledge and skills with each other. These benefits are demonstrated through feedback from participants and beneficiaries and by the level of uptake of our activities. The purposes of our charity will not lead to any harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are people living in the greater Ardglass area and family and relations visiting the area from Ireland and abroad. There is no private benefit to trustees. b) encourage and stimulate the artistic creativity of people in the area of benefit by the provision of artistic performances, training, support and facilities for learning, practising skills and artistic expression The direct benefits which flow from purpose (b) includes encouraging people to become active in a voluntary capacity, organise groups in the village, create floats for the annual festival parade, encourage the local businesses to get involved and use our training (such as child protection training), facilities and activities to make life better for themselves and their neighbours. These benefits are demonstrated through the number of groups and people involved in the festival events and any feedback which they give us. The purposes of our charity will not lead to any harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are people living in the greater Ardglass area and family and relations visiting the area from Ireland and abroad. There is no private benefit to trustees. c) provide, assist in providing or secure the provision of educational and recreational facilities for the benefit of the general public in the area of benefit The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include access to facilities and activities to improve education and positive wellbeing. These benefits are demonstrated through feedback from participants and beneficiaries and by the level of uptake of our programmes. The purposes of our charity will not lead to any harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are to benefit people living locally within the Ardglass area and may include visitors to Ardglass. A private benefit to trustees may arise from our programme of ongoing training programmes. Through this training trustees may gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.

The Arglass Festival Committee organises a main summer festival in August and mini festivals at Halloween, Christmas and Easter. A variety of social, sports, entertainment and creativity events are organised eg. fun run, teddy bear's picnic, sand design, kite competition, archery, skittles, cycle races, football, magic shows, prawn trawling, arts/
drama workshops, village clean ups, floats and fancy dress parades and fun days.
