Public benefits
The direct benefits which flow from the purposes of ABC Seniors Network includes having an established working partnership structure that mirrors the new council arrangements put in place as a result of the Review of Public Administration. The Network will focus and impact upon issues affecting older people by giving a voice in the area that we
represent, by ensuring representation at various platforms and structures. We also pass information on to the groups we represent and engage with other regional age sector groups thus ensuring the flow of information to older people concerning issues that affects their well-being and current affairs. We also engage and express concerns to those in authority who are the decision makers and policy makers etc. All this empowers the older community and gives them more confidence that their concerns are being addressed while developing and inspiring civic values and encouraging voluntary and community activity, networking and information exchange. These benefits are evidenced through feedback and participation from older people and groups as well as recognition from statutory bodies as a point of contact for engagement. These purposes do not give rise to any harm. The beneficiaries of the network are the older people of the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Council area. There are no direct private benefits for any of the committee members.
