Public benefits

In relation to all of the purposes of The Ballintoy & District Community Association, the direct benefits can include; the relief of poverty, the relief of sickness, the promotion of benefits to the aged both socially and educationally. The Ballintoy & District Community Association will do this by providing events, social activities and activities

that enable both young and old to get out and about within their own community and in so doing help to reduce social and rural isolation. Other activities e.g. social outings such as the annual trip to the Balmoral Show and ‘When the Country comes to Town’ event in Portadown and a Christmas shopping trip to Lisburn, all serve to encourage further community participation to provide a better quality of life, health and wellbeing for service users, including those with both physical and mental disabilities. In addition, The Ballintoy & District Community Association will involve members of the Association, volunteers, carers and the wider community in a common effort to tackle poverty, deprivation, and relief of sickness, loneliness and associated problems such as social and rural isolation. These benefits can be demonstrated through consultation from members of the Ballintoy & District Community Association and through other feedback and evaluation exercises from other groups and participating members. The Ballintoy & District Community Association will also be working with other Public Bodies at a strategic level and also collaborating with other local voluntary and community groups to ensure that ongoing community problems both on an individual and collective basis are taken on board. This will be achieved through programmes and projects like the Community Pharmacy project, Keep Fit Programmes and Crafting Classes all of which support the work of the Association and provide a mutual benefit for all. In relation to all of the above, the beneficiaries of The Ballintoy & District Community Association are all the people living in and around Ballintoy and its environs. As Ballintoy is within the main tourist route on the North Antrim Coast, many visitors including those from within Northern Ireland travel through the village en route to the Giant’s Causeway and the town of Ballycastle. In particular but not exclusive of others, those attending the activities may include; people facing difficulties, the bereaved, the depressed, the elderly, young people and carers. There are no harms resulting from any of the purposes. No person connected with this organisation gains a private benefit which is more than incidental to carrying out the purposes.
