Purpose 1 The Centre is established to provide, maintain and promote facilities and activities of a social, spiritual, educational and recreational nature with the object of improving the conditions of life of children and young people without distinction of sex, political, religious or other opinion. The direct benefits which flow from this
purpose include an increase in social skills, improvement in emotional well-being, improved positive educational outcomes and increased spiritual development in the lives of local young people. This purpose will also provide improvements to overall community life. The above benefits will be evidenced through a number of evaluative means including: recordings and observations of staff members; other qualitative data from parents, teachers, and community representatives; quantitative data from programme and project evaluations; and data from other sources including other service providers both statutory and non-statutory. There is no identifiable harm to any person through the pursuit of the above organisational purpose. The beneficiaries of this purpose are children and young people as defined by Government policy in Northern Ireland, living in Belfast. A private benefit may be gained by a Trustee who has a child who makes use of the facilities and activities of the centre. The child of the Trustee applies to be part of the youth centre and is given access in the same way as other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. Volunteers may gain an increased sense of well-being through their involvement in the centre, however this benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure benefit is provided to beneficiaries. Staff may gain opportunities to be involved in educational or recreational activities. This benefit is also incidental and necessary for the work of the organisation to take place.

Our organisation is a full time youth provision catering for children and young people between the age of 5 – 25, We provide a range of varied structured and informal programmes and activities of a social, spiritual, educational and recreational nature with the object of improving the conditions of life of the children and young people. We operate
an afterschool provision 3 afternoons per week, Tuesday Thursday and Friday, to support young people with their educational success. We run a evening programme 7 nights a week, Monday to Sunday were we provide various group work sessions and activities for young people to learn and engage in a social element. Diversionary programmes and activities are provided on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening as these are times were young people may be involved in mischief, anti community behaviour and crime. We also run a senior citizens programme on a Wednesday afternoon for members of the community 60+ which aims to directly involve Senior citizens in access to provision and enjoy the company of peers and socialize within their community. On Saturday afternoons we provide our centre to the National Autistic Society in which they use the centre to provide provision to children and young people who are diagnosed with ASD. The centre also offers formal accredited programme and training for young people, in particular those who are not in education, training or employment. We are affiliated to the Down And Connor Youth Commission and governed by a voluntary management committee with the essential skills to best assist with the operation of the centre. We work to the curriculum for youth work set out by the department of education. We have one full time staff member, and 10 part time, who are paid by the local education and library board. We have 24 volunteers.
